Workplace Partnership in Practice

Workplace Partnership in Practice examines who gains out of organisational change initiatives associated with workplace partnership between employers, employees and trade unions. It looks at the conditions which produce mutual gains cooperation, how it is developed in practice and, crucially, how and why mutual gains partnership is ...institutionalised' and then sustained or retarded. These are crucial issues for policy makers, employers, trade unions, employees, as well as students and academics, at a time when Irish industrial relations and employee relations is in a state of flux after 21 years of national partnership and the once dominant model of voluntarist workplace collective bargaining is being re-cast in a period of economic turbulence.

Through a review of the literature on mutual gains cooperation, and by intensively exploring the detailed change processes in two major Irish companies, Waterford Glass and Aughinish Alumina, this book sheds considerable light on these key issues.
