The President of the United States is a busy man, but in this book students from around the world have been given the chance to offer him advice on critical issues facing the globe today. Some help him understand the life of a child who goes to work instead of school; others describe how climate change is affecting people in developing countries; and others advise him on how to tackle world hunger to improve the lives of millions of people worldwide.

In Dear President Obama ... Concern Worldwide, the international humanitarian organisation, publishes the winning entries from its second annual essay competition, the Cecil Woodham-Smith Writing Competition, which offers students the opportunity to write about global issues. Broken down into three categories by age, the competition invited students to submit the letter they would write to President Obama on one of the following issues: Child Labour, Climate Change and the Developing World, or World Hunger. After receiving over 800 entries, Concern asked an external judging panel to select the best ten in each category, which, along with notable extracts from other submissions, comprises Dear President Obama ... - essays that offer fresh and impassioned thinking about vital issues facing the world today.

All proceeds from this book will go to Concern's work in the Developing World.
