Conor McPherson has quickly established himself as one of Irelands brightest and best young playwrights. Plays such as Port Authority, Dublin Carol and the award-winning The Weir have been performed to great acclaim on stages in London and New York. His prolific output now includes work as a scriptwriter and director. His recent film, The Actors, featured Michael Caine and Dylan Moran.

Jerry Woods book, covering all of McPhersons work, is the first publication on this important writer/director. Wood argues that the playwrights use of forms such as monologues, combined with his rich storytelling ability, allows him to look afresh at many of the well-worn stereotypes of Irish theatre. As well as providing synopses and in-depth analysis of the plays and films, the book includes an extensive interview with Conor McPherson.
